Turn customer questions into content that saves explanation

Customer questions reveal where your website or sales material leaves a gap. A useful content idea often begins with a sentence someone asks repeatedly, not with a fashionable topic. Capture the question while its context is still clear.

Collect the question and the situation

Keep a simple question log with the wording, source, relevant service and what prompted it. Remove personal or confidential details before sharing the log with writers. Note whether the person was exploring a service, comparing options or already working with the team; the same words can mean different things at each stage.

Group questions that seek the same answer, but do not combine unrelated concerns simply because they mention the same service.

Choose the format that fits the answer

A short factual question may belong in an FAQ. A decision involving several steps may need an article or worksheet. A process that is difficult to picture could benefit from an annotated example. Match the depth to the reader’s task rather than making every question into a long blog post.

  • What does the reader need to decide or do?
  • What context is necessary before the answer makes sense?
  • Which parts require current information or an internal reviewer?
  • Where should the answer be linked from?

Check whether the new content closes the gap

For example, repeated questions about providing access to a virtual assistant could become a preparation checklist. Explain how to identify the necessary tools, appoint an access owner and agree the approval process. Avoid publishing actual credentials or a client’s internal setup as the example.

After publication, ask the people handling enquiries whether the answer is useful. If the same misunderstanding continues, revise the explanation or make the page easier to find. A page view alone does not prove the question was answered. Keep the original question in your editorial notes so future updates preserve the purpose.

Take it into your working day

The best question-led content helps the next person make progress without needing the same explanation from scratch.
